Steak Dinner in a Crock-Pot!

“This is an AWESOME IDEA!”  A steak dinner in the Crock-Pot! 

And not the kind where everything takes on the same flavor but a true steak, potato and corn on the cob dinner.  How might this be done you ask?  Well it is quite simple and only 4 ingredients are needed. Yep, ONLY 4 ingredients! Steak, potatoes, frozen corn on the cob and steak sauce. I guess it’s 5 if you count the foil. 

Steak Dinner in a Crock-Pot: Use organic steak sauce to avoid processed sugars and un wanted preservatives and artificial ingredients.Now I cleaned it up just a smidge….. The only major change was using organic steak sauce. I wanted to avoid all those processed sugars and preservatives. And you really could use your own homemade sauce or marinade. That is what I will try next time.

Simply place one or two 3/4 inch steaks in the bottom of a Crock-Pot. I like to use rib-eye, they seem to be the most moist. But I have used a London broil too, a bit drier but so tender it falls apart. (London-broil is pictured here – it was on sale and I couldn’t pass it up)

After you place your steak in the Crock-Pot pour 1/2 cup steak sauce on top, and cover it with a layer of foil. Push that foil down, right on top of the steak, tucking it in all cozy and keeping the juices away from potatoes and corn.

Steak Dinner in a Crock-Pot: What is a steak dinner without potatoes and corn on the cob?Next wrap 4 small to medium potatoes in foil (wash and poke them with a fork first). Place them on top of the foil covered steak.

Finally wrap 4 or 5 nib-let size frozen ears of corn in foil and add them to the crock pot. 

Steak Dinner in a Crock-Pot: Easy to make and clean up! Healthy too!Cover the pot and cook it on low for 6 hours. That is it! Leave for work and come home to a steak dinner!

I think I will try the same method with chicken covered in barbecue sauce…and maybe sweet potatoes….

Note: On the Portion Fix Plan make sure and portion out your servings! I always add a salad or green veggie to this meal to round it out. For me I do 1 red (meat) 2 yellow (potato and corn) and add in a salad or green veggie for a green. When I am short on yellows I skip the corn.

Ingredients
  1. 1-2 (3/4 inch) steaks (I like ribeye)
  2. 4 small to medium red potatoes
  3. 4 Niblet ears of corn , frozen
  4. 1/2 cup organic steak sauce
  5. olive oil, sea salt, pepper (optional)
  6. Foil
Instructions
  1. Season steak with salt and pepper
  2. Place the steak in the bottom of the Crock-Pot
  3. Pour 1/2 cup of steak sauce evenly over the steak
  4. Place a large sheet of foil on top of the steak
  5. Wash and poke the potatoes with a fork.
  6. Rub each potato with a tiny bit of olive oil, and sprinkle with sea salt
  7. Wrap teach potato in foil and place on top of steak.
  8. Wrap frozen ears of corn in foil and place on top of steak
  9. Cover the pot and cook on low for 6 hours
Notes
  1. If you want to use full ears of frozen corn, go for it!
