Mmm… bacon! I love everything about it! The smell, the taste… I will admit that that is one thing I am not willing to give up on my healthy lifestyle… And I do not have to! Turkey bacon does provide a healthier option but sometimes this girl has to have regular bacon. There are some things I have learned to look for. It is more expensive but for both turkey and regular bacon I look for nitrate free, preservative free…. And since I usually drink a shake for breakfast I do believe that bacon is great for any meal!
This 5 Ingredient Strawberry Bacon Salad is a perfect example of that! The sweetness of the strawberries and saltiness of the bacon, pair together perfectly! You can throw it together quickly! It is pretty enough and tasty enough to serve at an afternoon luncheon. I used to crumble the bacon but have found that breaking it into chunks is just fine! The original recipe called for toasted almonds but I often use what is in my pantry – pine nuts, almonds, pecans or walnuts! Just toast them for a few minutes in the oven, let them cool and enjoy! Add your favorite healthy vinaigrette or poppy seed dressing and you have a gorgeous delicious salad.
