3 Ingredient Granola Bars!

Granola bars are one of my favorite snacks!  They are delicious and make me feel like I am eating a really healthy snack.  However, I grabbed a few boxes of granola bars for a road trip and looked at the ingredients… the ones I had chosen were not so healthy.  When a scanned them on the Fooducate App the rating they got was not stellar or even close.  What a disappointment. What did they have in them? Well they were high in sugar and oil…. I have discovered that the more ingredients in a store bought bar, the more unhealthy it likely is.  So what is a girl to do….? Make her own granola bars of course!

These granola bars require just 3 ingredients: honey, nut butter, and old fashioned oats.  I use all organic ingredients.  You can add in little extras such as nuts, seeds, dried fruit or even some chocolate chips if desired. But sometimes simpler is better.  

They go really well with my morning shake!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup organic raw honey
  • 1 cup organic nut butter such as almond or peanut (just nuts no added sugar, oils,,,,)
  • 3 cups organic old fashioned oats
  • optional: 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spray a 9 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Combine nut butter and honey in a small sauce pan.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring until melted.
  • Pour oats into a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour nut butter and honey mixture over the oats.
  • Stir thoroughly.
  • 3 Ingredient Granola Bars! Simplicity at its best!Pour into prepared baking pan.
  • Press granola bar dough evenly into the pan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and cool before cutting into bars.
