Summer time is one of my favorite seasons! Food always tastes better cooked on the grill! Cooking on the grill can be healthy and fits into the 21 Day Fix Plan so easily.
Seasoning mixes are a great way to add flavor and variety without adding calories and using those precious containers or teaspoons on the 21 Day Fix or other healthy food plan. But you have to be aware of what is in those store bought seasonings and marinades! Hydrogenated oils, sugars, dyes, …. By making your own you can control the salts, sugars and other ingredients. They don’t cost a lot to make and can be used on fish, chicken, meats and vegetables! Make them as you need them or make large batches and store them in airtight containers. Re-using empty spice jars works great!
Some seasoning mixes can even be turned into marinades by adding vinegar, wine and healthy oils. Below are some of our favorite seasoning mixes! So fire up that grill and sizzle your way to delicious healthy foods!
Basic Grilling Seasoning
3 tablespoons fresh coarse ground black pepper
1 tablespoons sea salt
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
