In the “good ole” days you rarely heard any women discuss menopause. I know my mother did not. I never heard her complain about hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, feeling out of control or WEIGHT GAIN !!!! I did not hear her talk to friends about it. There were no talk-radio discussions, television talk shows or articles in the news paper. Few women shared what they were going through. If they did it was often with embarrassment. My mother never seemed to be affected. At least she did not show it. Mom was our “June Cleaver”. She continued to get her hair done every week, cook, clean and continued to look after all of us!
Well thank goodness times have changed! No pretending that everything is great for me! I have experienced it all and have not sailed through it quietly or too gracefully like my mother appeared to! I thought I was doomed to being fluffy, tired, and sleepless, out of control and having hot flashes that made me want to tear my clothes off (would not have been a pretty sight, especially as overweight as I was). I have not suffered silently and have talked non-stop to discover ways to deal with all this. Through talking with friends I was introduced to the 21 Day Fix and Shakeology and I beat the menopause weight gain, regained energy and feel in much more control of my life!
I find that talking with other women has helped me to not feel so isolated during this time! Even though the experience for each of us is a bit different being able to share the “misery” has made me not feel so alone. And so I am so EXCITED to announce that we are doing a group just for women who are 50, close to 50 and over 50! Introducing FIT FAB 50!
Our FIT FAB 50 group will be a 30-Day Accountability group that will take place in a closed Facebook setting. Only those in the group can see the posts. There will be daily assignments, tips, and information relevant to women over 50 – hormonal issues, sleep issues, how to modify exercises, cravings etc.
